The jacket thesis paragraph

In “The Jacket,” Gary Soto illustrates how life has disappointments and how there are two ways to deal with one of many disappointments in life. The story begins with the main character asking his mother for a new jacket that he really wants, really bad. When he receives the coat, he is disappointed with the looks of the jacket. This causes the main character to be sad and have a bad attitude because the kids at school all talk about his jacket..  One night he realizes that the jacket is special. He slipped the jacket on and realized it had been through so many things with him.

The flu jacket

The flu: A girl that starts off miserable and alone. Through the story she begins to get better and gain all her friends back, she starts talks to Aldo. Through the flu they fall in love.

The jacket: A boy that wants a certain new jacket. He doesn't get the new jacket he wants, and it results in sadness. The jacket causes him pain and makes him self consious, everyone laughs and points at him.
